Collioure on the Vermilion Coast - Eastern Pyrenees
This is my favourite region of France as it is near the Spanish border and most holiday resorts of this area are small, family friendly and very agreeable places to stay.
Collioure is a former typical Catalan fishermen's village and is one of the few vacation resorts of the Vermilion Coast and is located between Argeles-sur-Mer and Port-Vendres. This sea resort is located in a mountainous landscape and if you rent a car, you can take advantage of its exposure to discover the first Spanish sea resorts on the other side of the border.
When one speaks about beach resorts and mountains we stystematically think about coves. And indeed, both French and Spanish Catalonia abound of very pleasant peaceful and lovely creeks where you can take some rest.
